Our Horses One of the prettiest images I have ever seen are horses running freely in the fields. They have a gracefulness as they gallop alongside each other. We have two horses. Rex is a chestnut quarter horse gelding. He sure is beautiful. He is about 7 years old. Nellie is a blue roan saddle horse mare. She is about 21 years old. We brought them home summer of 2007. Their previous owner had past away so they were looking for a new home. We were fortunate to have a place to put them. After bringing them in, they warmed up to us quickly. Nellie likes attention. She is also very jealous if you are giving Rex attention and she is just standing there. She is very easy to manage and is caught up easily. No running, playing games or anything. My daughter likes to ride her. You can tell that she was well trained and that someone in her lifetime spent a lot of time with her. Rex is a littler younger and still needs some work. He needs to be coaxed to be caught but up not too bad. He usually comes around within a few minutes. We did have to keep a halter on him when we first brought him in. It seemed like he would get spooked at the thought of being tied. He is doing much better now. I have ridden him several times along with my hubby and son. He is overall a great horse but still needs a bit of work. He throws his but up when going downhill. I wasn't ready for this one afternoon and came off of him. Didn't get hurt too bad, but I could tell I wasn't 19 anymore. Takes a little more time to get over things :) But not as long as my hubby :) I am not sure how to keep him from throwing that butt up. Guess I will just stay on flat ground till I have more experience :) A few more recent pics, taken 5-2008
